Hello all,
It has been a while since I made a blog post, but I want to share what has been going on with you all. This year has been a whirlwind. I opened up my Etsy shop to sell doll clothes and have also gotten a few commission opportunities to make custom doll clothes. There is nothing more I love than helping you all to fulfill your creative projects through my business.
The picture on the left is one of my favorite commissions I got to work on during this year. It is a Barbie-sized version of the white dress that Taylor Swift wore during the Folklore era of the Eras Tour. This was already my favorite dress from the Eras Tour before @GhoulGlam on TikTok asked me to make a Barbie-sized version of it for a custom doll he was working on. Funny enough the doll in this picture is actually a Taylor Swift doll that I already owned. In fact, you may recognize her hairstyle as she is based on the look Taylor Swift wears in the Love Story music video. As we move into the new year I hope that I can continue to work on more creative projects like this!
Lately, I have also been getting a lot of new inspiration and I have some fun projects planned for this winter. Specifically, I have been getting a lot of Medieval/Renaissance-style inspiration that I want to incorporate into the doll projects I am working on for my shop. As many of you know my ultimate goal is to create my own doll line. My plan right now is to continue following my inspiration in terms of creative projects with dolls and I think I will be able to reach that point. So stay tuned for some new doll styles coming to my Etsy shop.
Another project I need to work on this winter is finishing this custom doll. Last winter I gave her a faceup and reroot, but I was so caught up in my other projects that I never finished her outfit Once I finish her up I want to experiment with more customs/restyles. I think that perhaps I could even start to sell them as a preliminary doll line.
Finally, I do have to confess that there is another doll-related business venture that I have been working on outside of my own shop. This other business venture is tangentially related to my other projects, but it is its own thing. I will continue to share my progress in the outfits and dolls that I make, but just know there is something else going on behind the scenes.
In the end, what I want to leave you with is that there is more coming due to my renewed sense of inspiration. I am not sure what to expect for the next year as I will graduate college in the spring and am currently looking for day jobs. My plan right now is for my doll business to remain my side hustle. Of course, I would not object if this business took off and became my main hustle. I will leave you all with some of the pins I have taken from Pinterest that have been giving me inspiration.
